Installing the tools requires write access to the Notes program directory. If you don't have access there are things you can try but these policies are there for a reason and it may be required to contact your service desk to arrange for the tools to be installed.
Typical reasons why Windows permissions are not high enough for the installation:
- Notes is installed to Program Files or Program Files (x86). Local admin group may not have write access here. See Run Notes as Adminstrator or increase the local admin group rights or add your username explicitly with write access.
- UAC is turned on. See Turn off UAC.
- The widget code run from a browser has restricted access, see Run Notes as Adminstrator or see Use the local installer.
- A combination of the above.
As every organisation has configured Windows to their own specification with policies there are no guarantees that the above will bypass they restrictions put in place to control what is installed on your machine. If in doubt consult your service desk.
Check the log files for details on your specific error messages.
